The 21 days Nepal Tibet Bhutan tour itinerary is divided into three parts. You will first explore Nepal, travel to Tibet, return to Kathmandu, and fly to Bhutan. Our Nepalese, Tibetan, and Bhutanese representatives will accompany you during the tour. If you need any help, you can ask them freely.

Nepal

Welcome Nepal Treks team will personally welcome you in Kathmandu, Nepal. Kathmandu is the capital of Nepal and the gateway to the whole country. Our team will welcome you at the airport and escort you to the hotel. You will stay in Thamel, the tourist hub in Kathmandu. For the next two days, you will explore Kathmandu.

Visit famous tourist sites like Pashupatinath Temple, Monkey Temple, Bouddhanath Stupa, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, and Bhaktapur Durbar Square. You will also spend a night in Nagarkot, a hill station near Kathmandu.

After enjoying the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu, a night stay in Nagarkot will provide you with a peaceful time. The scenery and mountain views are incredible. On the way, you will visit the Namobuddha Monastery, too. It is one of the famous places where you can learn about Buddhist teachings in Nepal.

From Nagarkot, you will drive to Chitwan. Stop midway to join white-water rafting in Trishuli River. Trishuli River is known as one of the best rivers in the world to experience the thrill of white-water rafting. The river has both beginner-friendly and technical rapids. Our professional rafting crew will decide on the rapids based on the group's experience.

After rafting, continue the tour to Chitwan. You will spend this evening visiting a Tharu village for a short excursion. End the day with traditional music, dance, and delicious food. You will visit the Chitwan National Park for canoeing and jeep safari the following day.

The highlight of the day will be encounters with one-horn rhinos, elephants, Bengal tigers, and other wildlife and birds. Your time in Chitwan is all about nature, wilderness, birds, and wild animals. For the final part of the tour in Nepal, you will travel to Pokhara. It is known as the city of lakes and the gateway to theAnnapurna region.

To do treks like Ghorepani Poon Hill, Annapurna Base Camp, or Annapurna Circuit, travelers have to visit Pokhara. Pokhara is very different from Chitwan and Kathmandu. You can literally see western Himalayan mountains like Fishtail and Annapurna from many parts of the city. It is safe to say that the city coexists with nature.

You will explore the Phewa Lake, Davis Falls, Gupteshwor Cave, Bat Cave, etc. Likewise, visit the Sarangkot viewpoint to witness a gorgeous view of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Annapurna, Mt. Fishtail, Lamjung Himal, and a stunning sunrise from here.

In addition to these places, you will also explore the International Mountain Museum, Peace Pagoda, and the Lakeside Market. On the eighth day of the tour, return to Kathmandu and start preparing to fly to Lhasa (Tibet).

Tibet

You can take a one-and-a-half-hour to two-hour direct flight from Kathmandu to Lhasa. It will be a very scenic flight with a view of Mt. Everest. Upon landing in Lhasa, our Tibetan representatives will welcome you and transfer you to Tsedang. Lhasa is situated at around 3,600 meters above sea level, and Tsedang at around 3,100 meters.

This descent will help you acclimatize and avoid altitude sickness. The ride is around 4-5 hours long and offers impressive landscapes. Here, you will explore the Yumbu Lhakhang, the first palace in Tibet. The palace is believed to have been built for Tibet's first king in the 2nd century BCE.

Likewise, you will visit the sacred Trandruk Monastery, Samye Monastery, Dorje Drak Monastery, and Tomb of Tibetan Kings. After exploring Tsedang, you will return to Lhasa the next day and spend three nights here.

During your time in Lhasa, you will explore the famous Potala Palace. It is one of the iconic Tibetan architectures built in the 7th century. Likewise, you will visit the holy Jokhang Temple, known as the spiritual heart of Tibet. The temple presents an excellent blend of Tibetan, Indian, and Nepalese architecture.

Jokhang Temple is a pilgrimage site visited by hundreds of pilgrims every year. Circumambulation (kora) around the temple is quite popular. During the kora, pilgrims chant mantras and spin prayer wheels. The bustling Barkhor Street surrounds this temple.

The next must-visit place in Lhasa is Norbulingka. It is a huge man-made garden with a palace dating back to the 18th century. Similarly, you will also visit the Sera Monastery and Drepung Monastery, two of three great Gelugpa University monasteries in Tibet.

Both monasteries were established to teach and promote Buddhist education in Tibet. Their art, architecture, spiritual significance, and scholastic tradition are remarkable. After exploring Lhasa, you will fly back to Kathmandu, spend a night here, and take another short flight to Paro (Bhutan).

Bhutan

The Kathmandu to Paro flight takes 1 to 1.5 hours and is scenic. You can see breathtaking aerial panoramas of the Himalayas. Upon landing in Paro, our Bhutanese representatives will welcome you. Then, you will drive to Thimphu the same day to spend the night.

As you have already experienced quite a high altitude during your time in Tibet, adjusting to high altitude while touring in Bhutan will not be difficult. In this tour, we have included three Bhutanese cities- Paro, Thimphu, and Punakha.

You will learn a lot about Bhutanese culture, traditions, art, and architecture while exploring different historical sites in these three cities. Thimphu is the capital of Bhutan.

You will explore Changangkha Lhakhang, Buddha Dordenma Statue, Tashichho Dzong, Simtokha Dzong, the Royal Textile Academy of Bhutan, and the National Folk Heritage Museum. From Thimphu, continue the tour to Punakha.

On the way, you will cross the Dochula Pass (3,200 m). The pass is famous for its striking landscape. It is a short three-hour ride from Thimphu to Punakha, so you will spend the rest of the day exploring Chimi Lhakhang Temple, Punakha Dzong, and Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten. Return to Paro and spend two nights here before flying back to Kathmandu.

Enjoy a lovely hike to the Taktsang Monastery (Tiger's Nest Monastery) and explore Kyichu Lhakhang, Drukgyel Dzong, Drukgyel Dzong ruins, Ta Dzong Museum, Rinpung Dzong, Dungtse Lhakhang, and the Farmhouses in Paro Valley.

Best Season for 21 Days Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan Tour

When planning a 21-day tour across Nepal, Tibet, and Bhutan, the ideal windows to consider are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). These seasons offer a harmonious blend of ideal weather conditions, cultural vibrancy, and breathtaking landscapes that enhance every aspect of such a multi-country adventure.

Spring in the Himalayan region ushers in a burst of new life with refreshingly mild weather that makes trekking in Nepal exceptionally comfortable valleys come alive with blooming rhododendrons and wildflowers, while local cultural festivities provide immersive insights into traditional life. In Tibet, as the frost recedes, ancient treasures like the Potala Palace and Jokhang Temple shine under pleasant conditions and improved road access, and in Bhutan, the lush terraced landscapes and vibrant monastery festivals create a rich tapestry of culture and nature. As the season shifts to autumn, the region reaches another pinnacle: Nepal’s skies clear after the rains to reveal majestic mountain vistas and crisp, invigorating air that enhances outdoor adventures and photography, with celebrations such as Dashain and Tihar deepening the cultural experience. In Tibet and Bhutan, autumn brings serene beauty with unobstructed views of revered monasteries and remote mountain passes in Tibet, alongside Bhutan’s spirited Paro Tshechu, which captivates visitors with its blend of spiritual fervor and living tradition.

For a tour as extensive as a 21-day exploration across these culturally and geographically diverse regions, aligning your journey with spring or autumn increases your chances of not only enjoying comfortable weather but also witnessing the regions at their most vibrant and accessible. This timing significantly enriches your connection to the local cultures, traditions, and natural wonders you'll experience along the way.

The Altitude During 21 Days Nepal-Tibet-Bhutan Tour

The Nepal–Tibet–Bhutan tour spans an extraordinary range of altitudes, offering travelers a dynamic journey from the lowlands to some of the highest settlements on earth. Kathmandu (KTM) in Nepal sits at around 1,400 m, offering a gentle introduction to Himalayan altitudes. Nearby, Nagarkot provides panoramic views from about 2,200 m, while Pokhara (PKR), at roughly 820 m, offers a peaceful lakeside retreat and Chitwan (CTN) in the tropical lowland’s rests at 300–400 m, sharply contrasting with the towering mountains. The journey ascends dramatically in Tibet, where Lhasa is perched at about 3,650 m, and nearby, Tsedang—a lesser-known yet equally high Tibetan locale—hovers around a similar altitude, demanding careful acclimatization while rewarding visitors with breathtaking high-altitude vistas. Crossing into Bhutan, the route gently descends. Paro, at about 2,200 m, serves as a gateway to mystical landscapes. Thimphu, the capital at roughly 2,320 m, blends modernity with rich tradition, and Punakha, located at around 1,200 m, offers a temperate climate with its renowned dzong. This wide altitude spectrum enriches the travel experience, as each elevation brings its own unique climate, scenery, and cultural flavor, ensuring that the journey through Nepal, Tibet, and Bhutan is as diverse as it is unforgettable.
